Shine wins again!

The results are just in from the Texas oval meet--Shine racked up his second meet win yesterday. From the looks of the race by race reports, it was a very hotly contested meet, with each High Point being won by a different dog. I wish I'd been there; it looked like there was some exciting racing going on!

In news from Germany, Dunja tells me that, according to her owner, Gogo is definitely in whelp.

Here at home, I've enrolled Rogie in JIST (Jen's Intensive Socialisation Therapy). Up until November, I'd been working quite a bit with him but that work led to Rogie and Dayton both being exposed to kennel cough (which they promptly contracted). So, I'd laid off a bit (okay, entirely) until the race meet in January. Although he was pretty good once he figured out that "die Beute" was also present, the gossip had already started and, of course, gossip eventually gets back to the owners.

So, last week, we made a few trips to different pet stores with a pocket full of treats (and an owner who will ask anyone to please hand them to the puppy). By the end of the first trip, he was approaching strangers, ever-hopeful that treats would be offered. We also had a few in-home visits from "strangers" ... our former meter reader stopped by to ask about whippets as pets and visited for 30 minutes or so and, the next day, a friend of Wayde's stopped in as well.

I'm happy to report that the 'JIST" is working and Rogie is coming along just fine.

More Tighe-baby brags ...

Rena took Lace lure coursing this past weekend. She's completed her JC but this was her first time competing in an actual trial. Wouldn't you know it but she took first place!!!

Rena didn't want to run her too much so she forfeited the BOB run-off to another competitor. (A smart move with a young dog, I might add!)

Congratulations to Rena and Lace! We're very proud!

The big news after the weekend is this:

We have another meet winner in the family!!!

I haven't seen the official results yet but Betsy in Texas sent me a note to let me know that Tighe's son, Shine, won the oval meet there yesterday. From the sounds of it, he's got his daddy's race brain as Betsy said he really showed off his technical abilities.
