Finally, it's official and I can say something about it!
Dunja has expanded her "pack" by one...Xantana van de Spaarnemeute
This petite clone of Yankee still doesn't have a call name but I'm sure one will make itself known eventually. From the looks of things, Xantana has her dad's personality:

I've just seen a new picture of Bennet (Bennet aus dem Gnomenhain), Tighe's grandson who lives in Finland.
Here he is at 7 months old. Is he a handsome boy or what?

In all the goings on around here lately, I've forgotten some of the best news I've heard in a while...
Derby attended race practice last weekend and put in two runs. Her foot and toe (or, what's left of her toe) held up fine. No redness, no swelling, no lameness, no nothing.
Woo-hoo!!

Is there anything quite so wonderful as a puppy?
Dunja visited with the X-litter of van de Spaarnemeute whippets and took a number of pictures. They can be seen on her puppy page, but here's one more...
I measured Rogie this morning, just to see if he was still growing. I think the final numbers are in and he is (wait for it...) 20" tall!
Rogie and Dayton went for a walk at the river yesterday and Rogie had his first turkey sighting...a mother and her three baby turkeys. He was very excited about that and spent some time hopping along the trail like a kangaroo, ever hopeful that his leash would magically disappear.
Unlike Dayton, Rogie wouldn't take advantage of the cool river water and declined to get more than his feet wet. As the walk progressed, I had to laugh at him. When we were in the sunshine, he pulled and pulled and pulled but, as soon as we reached a shady spot along the trail, he slowed down practically to a crawl and became very interested in his surroundings.
"What an interesting rock! I must sniff it. Oh look! Another rock! Oh, and a twig! Have you ever seen such a twig?"
I wonder if Streaka told him to do that ...

There hasn't been too much happening around here of late. Dayton continues to improve but then, on some days, it looks like his muscle is still sore. Because he's not showing signs of pain any longer, I have entertained the idea that he's just ticklish and is responding to being tickled rather than exhibiting a pain response. It would be just like him ... :-)
Yankee has had to be scratched from the Kurzstrecken Meisterschaft this weekend. He's had an odd little injury to his carpus and, although it's not causing him any pain, Dunja does not want to risk further injury. More investigation into this will take place next week.
Dunja has visited the X-litter vd Spaarnemeute and will continue on to Hildesheim with her friend, Daniela, who is racing her afghan in the KSM. She likely took many photos of the pups and they should be available early next week.
Steffen talked me through some video editing techniques and I've now got a short video of Rogie and Tighe in MPG format! Vielen Dank Steffen für alles seine Hilfe!
